If you are new to the whole dessert-making scene, then these chocolate covered strawberries are a great place to start!

To make these chocolate covered strawberries all you will need is;

  • Strawberries
  • Dipping chocolate- I used this kind https://amzn.to/2NzH51r
  • White Chocolate for piping the laces- I used white baking chips and melted them
  • Wax or parchment paper

How to make these delicious super bowl treats!

Before you start dipping these juicy red berries in chocolate you are going to want to wash them to get off any molding and pesticides. To do this simply soak them in water and vinegar for 5 minutes. Use a 4:1 ratio (4 parts water to 1 part vinegar).

Now it’s time to start dipping!

-Melt your chocolate in the microwave in 30-second increments, mixing each time to distribute the heat until the chocolate is completely melted.

-Neatly gather the leaves in your fingers and dip the strawberry all the way up to the leaves.

-Pull the strawberry out of the chocolate and give it a little jiggle to remove some of the chocolate.

-Scrape any access chocolate off the bottom of the strawberry using the side of your bowl.

-Place strawberry on a piece of wax or parchment paper and let the chocolate harden.

-While you wait for the chocolate to harden, melt your white chocolate. If you are using baking chips you may have to add a small amount of shortening to them to help them melt without ruining the chocolate.

-Once the chocolate is completely hardened on the strawberries you can pipe on the laces of the football with either a piping bag or ziplock bag with the corner tip cut off.

I would not suggest making these chocolate covered strawberries in advance. They are best when made and left at room temperature to eat right away.

If you need to make these the day before, store them in the fridge. Make sure not to cover them in anything airtight. The strawberries need to breathe to prevent sweating.
